ATT: All ABSA Athletes, and potential athletes, please note the following

ABSA is holding a recruitment & testing day in October 2011.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL ATHLETES WISHING TO BE LICENSED AND COMPETE THIS SEASON (2011/2012) MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE OF THE TWO TESTING DAYS. Exceptions will be granted for those athletes currently residing overseas for this season only. ABSA will only be licensing athletes at 2 stages throughout the season. The first cut off for licensing will be 30th September 2011 and the second deadline will be 1st January 2012. Athletes seeking license outside of these deadlines, WILL NOT receive their license. There will be no exceptions. The onus is on the athletes to be prepared in advance. ABSA will assist new athletes throughout this process.

The next testing & try out date is Saturday 8th October 2011;

Testing times are from 1pm to 5pm

Testing consists of the following;

  • 0-15m time
  • 0-30m time
  • 15-45m/30-60m (flying 30m)
  • 0-45m (Women only)
  • 0-60m (Men only)
  • Standing Long Jump
  • Shot Put Throw
  • Power Clean (1 rep max)
  • Back Squat (3 rep max)

Testing for the National Team is conducted by ABSA. ABSA selections are final, as ABSA is responsible for fielding the best teams at International competition.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL ATHLETES WISHING TO BE LICENSED AND COMPETE THIS SEASON (2011/2012) MUST ATTEND AT LEAST ONE OF THE TWO TESTING DAYS. Exceptions will be granted for those athletes currently residing overseas for this season only. ABSA will only be licensing athletes at 2 stages throughout the season. Welcome to the Australian Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association. ABSA was founded way back, prior to the 1988 Calgary Olympics and has participated at all but one Olympics since.

 

The Association is the officially recognised bobsleigh and skeleton association in Australia by the Australian Olympic Committee, Australian Institute of Sport, Winter Olympic Institute of Sport, Australian Sports Ant-Doping Agency, Australian Sports Commission and FIBT.
